06.06.2012 17:44 # 52540Marvel To Make a Black Panther Movie? There`s a multitude of Marvel projects in the pipeline. Next up, we`ll be seeing Iron Man 3, Thor 2, and Captain America 2. We know that there are plans for a Ant-Man movie, as well as a Deadpool movie, a Doctor Strange movie, and much, much more. Today, we add another movie to that list.Apparently, if the reports are to believed (and Marvel denies this), Marvel wants to make a movie based on the Black Panther character, T`Challa, and this could be their still-unannounced 2014 movie, which is scheduled for May 16th of that year. If this is true, it would have to go to pre-production quite soon in order to meet the schedule. We know that there`s been some interest in this character not too long ago, and Mark Bailey was once approached to pen a movie adaptation of the masked warrior prince of Wakanda. I`m sure a lot of things have changed since then, considering the success of Marvel Studios of late, but this might mean that they have a script more or less ready for a director to sit down with.Getting Black Panther as an addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe wouldn`t be too difficult; Wakanda has already appeared on maps in previous Marvel movies, the Vibranium in Captain America`s shield has to have come from somewhere, and there`s a definite lack of superheroes of color in cinema today.Personally, I think this would be a good addition to the already large cinematic universe, but I can`t but help wonder what kind of story would make for a good Black Panther movie without it feeling too isolated and cut off from the remainder of the cinematic universe. I could definitely see him as being a character in a future The Avengers movie, setting him up for a solo movie, but I`m sure Marvel has a number of great ideas just waiting for the right opportunity to be announced. Personally, I hope they go for the gritty realism that has been apparent in some of the Black Panther comics rather than the cartoony utopia that others have shown.
